Karthus is the Deathsinger, the AoE damage machine who keeps killing you even after you kill him. His whole game is layering relentless magic damage: spamming Lay Waste to chip and clear, parking his Defile aura on a fight to melt everyone at once, and reaching across the entire map with Requiem to snipe a low health enemy from another lane. The signature trick is his passive, Death Defied, which lets him keep casting as a spirit for several seconds after he dies, so killing him often just means eating a free burst of damage. If you like Karthus, look for immobile, ranged mages who deal heavy sustained magic damage and win by zoning a whole area rather than landing one big skillshot.
