Taric is incredibly hard to kill once a fight is going, but the cracks show before he gets there. He is melee with zero dash or escape, so he can be poked out, kited, and caught out of position by anything ranged. His one piece of lockdown, Dazzle, fires after a short windup that good players can react to and step out of, and the Bastion tether forces him to stay close to his ally to do most of his work. Early on his base damage is low and his mana runs dry fast, so an aggressive ranged lane can bully him off the wave before his sustain matters. To beat Taric, out range his poke, chunk his carry from a distance he cannot answer, or bait and dodge his stun, and remember his ultimate has a cast delay you can sometimes punish or simply wait out. When you pick Taric, you are accepting that mobile and long range enemies will keep him at arm's length, so you want a partner he can latch onto and protect.
