Olaf is terrifying once he is on top of you, but he has one glaring weakness: no dash and no gap closer. His only way to stick to a target is Undertow, a slow moving axe he has to land and then walk over to pick back up, so if he misses it he has nothing to catch you with. His ultimate, Ragnarok, makes him immune to crowd control, but it does not give him range or mobility, so a target who can simply out range him or out sustain his all in still gives him fits. The way to beat Olaf is to disrespect his short reach, dodge his axe, and either kite him from distance or win the exact extended brawl he is hoping for. When you pick Olaf, you are accepting that ranged zoners and anyone who refuses to die in a duel will frustrate you, so you want matchups that are forced to fight you up close.
