Aphelios is a monster if he reaches his items, so countering him is mostly about not letting him get there. He has zero mobility, no dash, and no self peel, which makes him one of the most divable carries in the game. His only real lockdown comes from Gravitum, the cannon, which slows on hit and roots a slowed target when he fires its active, but everything else in his kit is pure damage with no escape valve. Early on he is mana light but weak and clunky, juggling his weapon swaps while better laning bots simply out trade him.
