Zyra is scary when she gets to set her garden, but she is one of the most immobile champions in the game, with no dash and no escape beyond Flash. Her crowd control is honest and slow: Grasping Roots is a wide but sluggish skillshot, and Stranglethorns has a long wind up before it launches anyone, so a mobile enemy can simply walk out of both. Her plants also need a half second to grow and a target to shoot, which means jumping straight on top of her shuts most of her damage off before it starts. To beat Zyra, bring a dash that dodges her root and dives past her plant field, or out range and out poke her so she can never safely step up to plant her seeds. When you pick her, you are betting you can land slow skillshots from a safe distance, so respect anyone who can close the gap the moment you whiff or simply outrange your poke.
