Viego looks unstoppable when he is snowballing, but the engine that makes him scary is also his weakness: he needs the kill. Possession only triggers when a champion you damaged actually dies, so anything you can do to deny him that body shuts off his resets, his free combo, and his second health bar. He has no ranged poke and only one piece of hard crowd control, a chargeable Spectral Maw dash that stuns the first enemy it hits, so a dodge or a wall break leaves him with nothing. He has to commit into melee through his E mist to do real work, and when he is not riding a possession he is fairly squishy. To beat Viego, bring a target he cannot reliably kill, out trade him in the extended fight, or simply be too tanky and self sustaining to give up a soul. When you pick him, you are betting on getting that first kill, so unkillable bruisers and tanks are exactly what you do not want to see.
