Her auras only reach a short distance, so to give value she has to stand close, and her only hard crowd control is Crescendo, the long line stun she has to hold for the right moment. Before that ultimate is up she has almost nothing to stop someone diving on her, and a heavy mana cost means she runs dry if she pokes too freely early. The way to beat Sona is to punish her squishiness with hard engage that gets on top of her before R is ready, or to out sustain the poke war she wants to win. When you pick Sona, you are accepting a weak, immobile early game in exchange for a scaling teamfight enchanter, so respect anyone who can dive you or simply heal through your chip.
