Galio is built to punish magic damage, so the cleanest way to beat him is to simply not be a mage. His Shield of Durand gives him bonus magic resist and damage reduction as it charges, which makes AP burst bounce off him, but it does far less against raw physical damage. He is also fairly slow and telegraphed: his Winds of War tornadoes and his Justice Punch dash are easy to see coming, and his shield channel can be baited out or interrupted. Anyone who can dodge his abilities, out range his poke, or out duel him with attacks and physical damage tends to give him a rough time. When you pick Galio, you are betting that you can absorb the enemy's spells and flip the fight with your crowd control, so respect the mobile fighters and ranged threats who never give you a clean target to taunt.
