Elise is terrifying early but the whole package has clear cracks. Her burst combo is gated behind landing Cocoon, a thin single target skillshot stun, and if she whiffs it she is a squishy bruiser with no hard crowd control left for several seconds. Her spider form Rappel gives her a leap and a brief untargetable window, but outside of that she has no real escape, and her power falls off hard as the game goes long and her percent health damage stops scaling. To beat Elise, dodge or bait out the Cocoon, survive her early ganks, and drag her into the mid and late game where her duel falls apart. Junglers who out sustain her burst, out duel her in an extended fight, or simply out scale her give her the most trouble. When you pick Elise, you are betting on snowballing the early game before your damage runs dry.
